Use henna as temporary art form
Henna has become quite popular today. It is painless, not permanent, and can be enjoyed with friends. It evokes a sense of the East and the Maghreb.
The use of henna for body art dates back to ancient times and is still practiced in India, the Maghreb, and Turkey, although it is now mostly reserved for matrimonial ceremonies.
The fashion of using henna for make-up is gaining popularity in Western countries.
You can easily do henna make-up yourself with a little practice. Start by drawing your design on paper, then transfer it to a discreet part of your Hand
Preparation of the paste
To prepare the paste, mix a little green henna powder with water and possibly add essential oils like orange blossom or rose water to prolong the duration of the drawing. The paste should not be too liquid or too dry. Use a syringe (without the needle) to apply the paste in a precise design or stencil.
The color of the design depends on the thickness of the paste applied and the length of time it is left on the skin (at least an hour, enough time to enjoy a cup of tea!). The color fades gradually over two to three weeks.
How to achieve a black henna tattoo
If you want your henna to appear black, the process is simple. Mix some green lemon juice in a bowl and apply it to the henna with a knitting needle. Repeat the process at least three to four times until the henna is dry. After the fourth layer has dried, use a dry knitting needle to scratch the surface of the design and leave it for an hour or more to absorb the lemon juice. Finally, remove the excess henna but do not wash your hands with soap and water. Instead, apply a drop of olive oil to your hands to help the henna last for at least three weeks.
